GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
1.General stage goals.
According to the LOE (R.D. 1513/06) and the D. 230/07, where the Curriculum
for Primary Education in Andalucía is established, children must reach the following
aims along Primary Education, particularly the general objective f) when
dealing with the teaching of English as a Foreign Language because of its
direct relationship with this area:
a)Know and appreciate the values and rules of living together in society

g) Develop basic mathematical competences.
|
b) Develop individual and team-work habits.
|
h)Know and value their natural, social and cultural environment.
|
c)Acquire abilities to avoid and solve conflicts peacefully.
|
i)Begin to use information and communication technologies.
|
d)Know, understand and respect cultural and personal differences among
people, equal rights and opportunities.
|
j)Use different artistic representations and expressions and initiate
themselves in the production of visual proposals.
|
e)Know and use the Spanish language appropriately and also the co-oficial
language if there is any in the Autonomous Region.
|
k)Value hygiene and health, accept their own and other’s bodies, respect differences
and using physical education as a means of favouring personal and social
development.
|
f)Acquire basic communicative competence in, at least, one Foreign
Language to produce and understand simple messages as well as to manage
properly in daily situations.
|
l)Know and value animals close to human beings.
|
m) Develop their affective capacities.
|
|
n) Foster traffic safety education.
|
2.English area goals.
With respect to the objectives related to the Foreign Language teaching
(English) for Primary Education, the LOE (R.D. 1513/06) establishes that
children have to be able to:
1) Listen and understand messages in
different verbal exchanges, using the transmitted information for the
development of specific tasks that will be related to their own experiences.

2) Express and interact orally in simple
and daily situations with which the student is familiar and in which verbal
and non-verbal procedures are used, adopting a respectful and cooperative
attitude.
|
3) Write texts, with the support of models,
which have different aims and which have been previously practiced in class.
|
4) Read in a comprehensive way different
texts, related to their experiences and interests, extracting general and
specific information and with a predetermined goal.
|
5) Learn how to use all the accessible
tools in a progressively autonomous manner, including new technologies, to
obtain information and communicate in the Foreign Language.
|
6) Appreciate the Foreign Language and
languages in general as a means of communication and understanding for
peoples from different cultures and as a tool for learning different
contents.
|
7) Demonstrate a receptive and
self-confident attitude towards their own ability to learn and use a Foreign
Language.
|
8) Use the knowledge and previous
experiences with other languages for a more rapid, efficient and autonomous
acquisition of the Foreign Language.
|
9) Identify phonetic aspects, rhythm,
stress and intonation, as well as linguistic structures and lexical aspects
of the Foreign Language and use them as basic elements of communication.

CONTENTS
The contents designed by the Educational Authorities
in the R.D. 1513/06 for the second stage of Primary Education, where these are
divided in four blocks as it follows:
1. Listen, speak and talk.

-Listen to and understand oral messages with a gradually increasing
difficulty, such as instructions, explanations or recorded texts through
audiovisual aids and ICT, in order to extract the global and specific
information.
-Oral interaction in real and simulated situations where pupils can
choose from a repertoire of expressions, in guided contexts which move
gradually to free production.

2. Read and write.
|
|
-Read and understand a variety of texts adapted to the linguistic
competence of pupils, to extract global and specific information, to carry
out a task and also reading for pleasure.
-Write texts related to familiar situations: invitations, letters,
e-mails, adverts, leaflets…
-Brief compositions following models for imitation, with a communicative
purpose.

3. Knowledge of the language through its use.
|
|
3.1. Linguistic knowledge.
|
-Association of the written form, the pronunciation and the meaning of
words, in simple texts which are familiar to children. Analysis of the
relation between letters and phonemes.
-Use of basic strategies to write texts (addressee, purpose, planning
draft, revision, etc.)

3.2. Learning to learn.
|
-Interest to use the Foreign Language correctly in a variety of
communicative situations. -Pupils should reflect on their own earning
process, accepting “errors” and mistakes as part of the learning process in
every person trying to acquire a TL (L2).

4. Sociocultural aspects and intercultural awareness.
|
|
-Interest to know about people and cultures of English-speaking
countries.
-Knowledge of similarities and differences between English-speaking
countries and Spain related to social relations, habits and cultural aspects.
